We have been with RingCentral…

We have been with Ring Central for over 3 years. Support has always been very poor, but issues have generally worked themselves out. I find their support to be incredibly evasive and unhelpful. They will first blame outages in your area. Then they will find blame somewhere else. But somehow it usually gets fixed. We’ve now had problems for a week and there is no explanation, no solution and no escalation. It’s intermittent but constant so RingCentral has been useless. Our clients and employees can’t reach us, faxes don’t come through, call forwarding doesn’t work. We are dying. If you called a small business and got dead air a few times, what would you do? You wouldn’t go back to them, and you sure as heck wouldn’t use their voip provider.

I had the Fax service, since…

I had the Fax service, since I dislike faxes, and I have Internet and setup my own VOIP. I canceled in 2013, 2014, 2015 (you get renewed/billed then after wards they inform you of the renewal). You cannot cancel auto-renewal or cancel your account via the web account or email. They will only (in theory) do it via phone. They do not send a confirmation of cancellation with the confirmation number or confirmation that it is cancelled. 2016 I was billed again, so I had to file a Complaint with the BBB (along with over 200 other people). They claim they do not have any records of my 2013, 2014, 2015 cancellations or my calls. Avoid this company, since they cannot even reliably track your cancellations or calls. It is too bad, since the web fax interface was easy to use, but I rarely use faxes.

Bottom Line:
Over 300,000 customers can’t be wrong. RingCentral has been a perennial favorite of VoIP review sites. They continue to innovate from either their in-house team or by making deals with smart companies. One of their best choices was to enter a partnership with Zoom, making it possible to have HD quality video conferences with large numbers of participants. Formerly, this was only available with huge hardware, some that even needed its own dedicated rooms. Instead, a laptop or tablet is now all you need. This offering is a game changer that few other providers can compete with.

RingCentral has a huge head start over today’s VoIP startups, and but they’re always looking forward rather than resting on their laurels. Every few years, they find a way to reinvent themselves and stay fresh. It’s hard to say anything bad about RingCentral, but they do seem a little vanilla. Vanilla, of course, is the most popular flavor of ice cream, so that’s good for most. But, there are some companies out there that like quirky companies and gimmicks. RingCentral stays away from the bleeding edge and sticks to software and hardware with a proven track record.

RingCentral has exclusive features, but they aren’t available unless you pay for the top tiers. If you want a great VoIP experience, you won’t go wrong with RingCentral as a whole, but organizations that are able to afford it can get more with RingCentral than with many other providers.
