I researched VOIP providers pretty well…

I researched VOIP providers pretty well before deciding on 1-VOIP. They did well with the online review sites but what pushed them to the top of my list was the fact they were one of the few companies that actually provided a physical address on their web site. When I called customer service , I spoke to a knowledgeable person with a mid-west accent as opposed to – well you know. Setup was pretty straight forward and when I did have a question I immediately got thru to tech support and again – no foreign accent. I hate to dwell on that but I have hearing issues and some accents can be difficult for me. Only been using them for a couple of weeks but so far it is great.

Tried the $159/yr plan at my mom’s house and everything was good. At the end of the first year (July 1) I got a bill for over $220 to renew. I called and was told I could no longer get the $8.97 rate they advertise on their website and they had added a $20 maintenance agreement this year. The day after I got the bill I called PhonePower and signed up to port my number to them. I gave the account number on my 1-voip bill. PhonePower called and said the port could not be completed because the account number was wrong. I called 1-voip and got a different number. That number was rejected too. I called 1-voip again and they gave me two more “possible” account numbers. I told them I had been waiting for over two weeks and accused them of holding my account so I would have to renew with them. The lady assured me they were not trying to do that and she would extend my account until July 31st. PhonePower let me know the port would go through July 24th. I got my credit card statement today and sure enough there was the $220 charge from 1-viop. Even “if” they reverse the $220 I will still have to pay it this month and get credit next month because I pay off my bill in full to avoid interest. I personally think they are crooks.

This is a great service at a good price. I really like that they use standard Cisco equipment. Switching to 1-Voip from Ooma due to call issues. Now there are no complaints from my family.

Unfortunately, I’ve paid for a years service in advance. The delays on the calls (3-4 seconds) make the service unusable. I’ve measured internet upload speeds that range from 1.9 MPS to 4.5 MPS, which is plenty to handle VoIP calls. I’ve called support on my cell phone, but can’t call them on my VoIP line to troubleshoot because the call quality is so bad. FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!! I will probably end up eating the $125 I paid up front and finding a service that works.

Pros: I don't know, call quality is so bad that I've not been able to complete a call.
Cons: Terrible delays make the service unusable. Support was not helpful. he.

Price from cheap to expensive…

Price from cheap to expensive made without my permission. When not working I was sent to a web site to learn to fix and set up my modem. REALLY? Calls from my doctors office were not to be had. Was told this was their problem. REALLY? Calls would be dropped. They apologized for this. Doesn’t fix the problem of dropped calls. Would not work AT ALL sometimes. Was told this was a maint. problem. REALLY? NOW LETS SEE HOW THEY DO CLOSING MY ACCOUNT AND WITH THE SIGNED RETURN OF THEIR EQUIPMENT…

Editor’s Bottom Line of 1-VoIP

1-VoIP stands out from the pack with a very impressive 99.999% SLA. Their hosted PBX features are no more or no less than I would expect from a top-notch VoIP provider. Their SIP trunking rates are a good deal. Their residential service is average, but I’ve seen better prices on similar services.
