Service is spotty, so do not use if you need reliability. Firewall rules require sixty thousand (!!) opened ports to the internet, so this will not work if you have any other incoming services (Uverse, gaming, VPN, etc.) Strangely, the service works much more reliably with a software-based SIP connection like X-lite, but that doesn’t make it a home phone replacement. Call quality is choppy and high latency, so you will need to repeat yourself on occasion. The price is pretty low considering the feature set available. If you can live with the drawbacks, it is low risk to try it out. The 2 years/$149 deal is almost always available, so don’t pay more than that. However, don’t get this service for your grandparents with the expectation that it will reliably replace their landline – it will only cause you grief.

I’ve been long time user of VoIPo, probably going back to 2012 or earlier. I was satisfied until Verizon upgraded my router in 2017. VOIPO device will not stay connected on the new router, despite too many self diagnosis attempts and support attempts with VOIPO. Positive is I learned what a DMZ is, but that didn’t help, and I certainly don’t feel like going through the effort of replacing my Verizon router just to get the VOIPO to stay connected. I’ve been suffering with this for almost 2 years now, almost daily I have to walk into the basement to unplug the VOIPO device. I’m not living this way anymore, and will try 1VoIP. How much worse could it be.

I happen to see this site with a few negative reviews. Bottom line I like Voipo.com since 2013 dropping Vonage (expensive) and this week dropping Uverse voipo Home line ($36 month). The renewal 2 yr contract break down to $7 per month works with their Grandstream device.
In the beginning my home was DSL in redzone (1300′ from AT&T hub) so the Latency/Ping times were 15-30ms (voipio’s do bad if over 18ms) which depending on the internet routing (you can’t control that) I would have audio quality issues. Support did everything from running test app to sending another device. Quality was good enough to keep it saving $$.
2017 AT&T pulled fiber to neighbor so I switched to Uverse Gigafiber get 1-2ms pings with 850Mbps up/down meaning there are no more audio drop-outs.
Besure to run speedtest.net to see ping times and if over 15 you might want to try more expensive voipo services and or device.

I am at the end of my second year with Voipo and I have always been able to get someone in customer service. I read a review that complained that the client couldn’t connect two lines because of low voltage. He’s wrong! I have the adapter in one place and my own phone in another room connected to the service.
I think this website is trying to push 1Voip because most of the services they say here are not available with VOIPO I am getting as part of my package and I did bring my own phone too.
There is advanced call rejection and also anonymous call rejection. There is certainly simultaneous ring with VOIPO, voicemail transcriptions, and I submit all my support issues with a support ticket.
I am very pleased with their service and reliability. While they all could be better, I am certainly getting more for less. Let’s not forget that VOIP is completely reliant on your internet connectivity reliability and not the voip provider.

This company is a bunch of thieves. We were suckered into extending our service for two years for a prepaid $185 which was charged to our credit card. We received no verification/documentation of any sort to indicate what we had just purchased. When we received our next credit card bill two weeks later, there were two charges of $185 each posted on the same day (not one as we had understood would be charged). I called my credit card company. They disallowed the second charge of $185. Several days later we received a threatening e-mail demanding that we immediately return their phone jack equipment or we would be charged $50.
In a subsequent e-mail the same day, I suggested that we had not canceled the service but rather were incorrectly charged $185 a second time. Their response was that they did not acknowledge they had made a billing error and that I should have called them to get the overcharge, if any, settled. In any case, the fact that my credit card company had disallowed the second charge cost them $50 (they claimed). If I wanted my service reinstated, I would have to reimburse them for the $50 “chargeback” that the credit card company imposed on them. I pointed out that I had not created the issue, but that they had due to their billing error. Their reply was that it didn’t matter whose fault it was, it was their company policy to charge customers for any additional fees incurred with the credit card company regardless of fault.

Unreliable. Too often the service does not work, when our internet connection *is* operational and verified:
1) No dial tone – unable to make or receive calls
2) Unable to make out gong calls (in fact as I write this review via the same internet connection the phone service is connected, I cannot make an out going call, but did just get an incoming call).
Customer support appears to be no more than an chatbot of sorts, with same lame responses time after time. 1) Power down voipo adapter and modem (why, the internet connect is working?), 2) power on modem 3) power on voipo adapter.
That is very disruptive because the Internet is in use for other purposes.
Voipo may be cheap, and the quality of service reflects that.

I’ve been using Voipo since 2010 and I’ve only had minor issues a few times. The website portal is nice and has a lot of features. I forward the calls to my cell phone when I go out of town. I have no complaints.

They disconnected my service even though I prepaid for 2 more months. They sent me email saying I requested to disconnect service, which is not true. I cannot even contact them since they deleted my account and the only way to contact them is by logging on your account on their website. Ridiculous. If you want to have horrible experience – try VOIPO.

3 times in the past 8 months I have been without service. it is impossible to get through to a live person, even on the online chat. half of the time their own business phone numbers don’t work. I believe they are actually a “pyramid scheme”. I was signed up with 2 years still to go and they are constantly reminding me to “re-up” my service. I have had it. please, don’t go with this “company” it is nothing but a hassle

I’m getting ready to renew for my 3rd 2 year stint. I split my phone service about 50/50 between cell and VOIP and like the VOIP phone because my cell service is spotty where I live and the VOIP provides clear unbroken connections. I also like it because 75% of my “Land Line” calls are junk and I pay much less (compared to old Ma Bell) for the phone # that they call on.

Voipo does NOT provide the services that I am paid for. I can’t make a call to overseas to a country that is on their list. I opened a ticket and this is the final response.

Voipo used to be an excellent run VOIP business. I’ve had issues in the past that were responded to and resolved fairly quickly. However, over the last couple of months I’ve noticed a steady degradation of voice quality with steadily increasing line static. Opening a ticket only resulted in a series of technical questions about the adapter, resetting the adapter, voltage and amperage values, what brand of modem/router, and what ISP I have. In the meantime, the static has gotten worse and dialing a number, any number, results in a busy signal. So, no working phone for which I’m all paid up until 2020, or there about. I’d look for a different provider of this service.

Their service is damn good. I stacked up years of their special price so my phone service is practically free. When I had initial hookup problems even the owner of the company helped out.
They tell you not to wire in additional phones, claiming their box is so fragile it can’t support being hooked into household wiring even if you have disconnected it from the phone company.
I recommend them to friends a lot. Occasionally I have to restart their box, but beyond that haven’t had much trouble.
Works with NoMoRobo.com to screen out robocallers, which is a huge plus. I wouldn’t get a service that didn’t work with that!!!!

Sirs, Our phone has had to be reset every few hours since June 8th and people could not call in to us. I’ve had a couple of tickets on it and have called in about it also. Twice I was told that the problem resolution was on your end, not mine. Yesterday when I called in, the technician said the problem was solvable by a change on your end and that I should reset the box and see if it worked the next day still. Well it does, so it appears the problem is finally resolved and we can now use our phone as intended. I would now like to ask for additional time to be added on to my service plan to compensate for the 4 months we had little or no service.
