The 2014 Telecom Exchange West is coming up this week, and If you want to stay in the loop for all things telecom-related, you should definitely go. Why? Here are ten reasons to be there or be square:
Reason 1: A level playing field
The TEX exhibit floor is arranged in alphabetical order, with each exhibitor getting three feet of table space and a seven-foot sign. At many other conventions, from comics to communication, the biggest names have the biggest hype machines. But TEX has a commitment to neutrality. Every exhibitor has to rely on the strength of their arguments, technology, and/or expertise to win over visitors and journalists.
Reason 2: The CEO RoundTables
TEX will have the top thought leaders discussing important topics of the day. The TEX West will have four such discussions:
– What the FCC ruling means to net neutrality
– Challenges and opportunities of burstable transport
– Discussion on electricity and power
– Discussion on industry mergers and acquisitions.
This is a great opportunity to peer inside the minds of C-levels as they ponder many of the same concerns we all have about the state of telecommunication today.
Reason 3: The biggest names in industry will be there
In addition to the CEO roundtable, many big names in telecommunications will be present at the event, including representatives from Time Warner Business Class, Windstream, ADVA Optical Networking, and Allied Fiber. For a complete list, click here.
Reason 4: The CMO Summit
HubSpot’s Kevin Linehan will be leading a Chief Marketing Officer summit specifically for telecom professionals, running three half-hour long panels: how inbound marketing works for the telecom industry; the value of corporate content; and how to make sure your content is relevant. Get a lesson in creative marketing from one of the top names.
Reason 5: Go Skiing!
All TEX West attendees are encouraged to attend a unique sort of networking event. On Friday, March 7th, there will be a special day of skiing and snowboarding at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Registration for this special event includes a lift ticket and transportation from the Sheraton Denver Downtown at 7AM. It does not, however, include ski or snowboard rental, but there are discounted rates for TEX attendees.
Reason 6: Arranged one-on-one meetings
Attendees are invited to log on to the Telecom Exchange DealCenter. The one-on-one meetings operate in a way similar to some social networks. If you are interested in having a personal meeting with another attendee, you can search through the DealCenter by a person’s title, the company they work for, and the services they offer. You can send an email to the person you’d like to meet, and if they want to meet you, they will accept your invitation and agree to a meetings. The meetings themselves are fifteen minutes long, and the time and table are arranged by computer.
Reason 7: Free stuff!
Registration also includes an opportunity to enter the raffle. The lucky winner will receive gifts courtesy of raffle sponsors. The main sponsor for the raffle this year is Telx. Even if you aren’t the lucky winner, convention goodie-bags, sometimes known as “swag,” are available for free for all attendees. Sponsored free gifts include bags, mints, pens, napkins, refreshments.
Reason 8: Informal Meet & Greet before the event, plus a party afterward
The night before the event, Wednesday, March 5, there will be a casual meet and greet at the Sheraton Denver Downtown from 7-9pm. This is a chance for attendees to interact with each other before the hustle and bustle of the event. It’s a chance for the attendees to get to know each other before they meet all the exhibitors. There is also a Telecom Exchange After Party from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Reason 9: Buffet-style lunch
There is no formal lunch break. Instead there is a lunch buffet available to all attendees, located in the center of the exhibit hall. Have your lunch on your own schedule. There is also a bar.
Reason 10: The Technology Showcase
Adva and Ekinops are the two major sponsors of the Technology Showcase. The showcase is these two company’s opportunity to show off the latest products they are putting on the market on a large scale. The products they will be showcasing will bring data and telecommunication platforms to the next level, and you’ll get a sneak peek at the future.
The Telecom Exchange is a great convention, for vendors, sponsors, and attendees alike. It’s a great way to learn something new, meet someone new, or have a new experience. You can learn how to grow your market, learn your craft, or just go to as many tables as you can. Each day is packed with opportunities to grow personally and professionally. Register today!
