If you need to do reporting or…

If you need to do reporting or any kind of ETL work to track call metrics. You should never use RingCentral. They make you purchase an additional phone line in order to create fake data for your Sandbox Application–why does this matter? Well, in order to get Production credentials to hook your ETL application into, you need to pass their “tests” which require that you: 1) exercise your “credential level”– which you can’t do because there’s no fake data to query, 2) you must make more than 20 API calls, 3) You have to have a <5% Error Rate — Which is impossible if there is no data to query because you get back 404’s for Resource Not Found because well…there’s no Fake Data! How these guys have gotten away with this Shell Game? I don’t even know. Also, Good Luck getting a support case to follow up–even when they request you post a detailed Stacked Overflow post. Worst Part? I have been waiting for 3 days now for some response on that post from them, and instead have figured out a workaround, because it’s been 3 days and I have a job to do. Don’t use RingCentral if you care about reporting or custom integrations–you’ll just make your development teams stressed, frustrated, and feeling cheated.

Pros: Nice Looking Soft Phone Application.
Cons: Hard to Develop Against, Slow and Lagging API, Poorly Written and Assumption Laden Documentation, Important Features are Hidden, Error Codes are Undocumented.

RingCentral is overpriced and incapable of providing a reliable phone service. Since March 2017 I have called several times to speak with technical service about an issue regarding my voicemail. I have not been able to change my voicemail without calling Ring Central for assistance as I receive an “error” message each time I have tried to re-record my voicemail using the app on my phone. Each time I have been told technical service is unable to determine the “glitch” with my voicemail and to call back if I have to re-record. This is unacceptable service.

I have used Ring Central for a number of years for my company. I can say I do have ONE regret. It’s that I hadn’t signed up sooner! Great service, No surprises- Great product!

For over a decade, RingCentral has offered small and medium-sized businesses phone features that were previously only available to the largest and richest companies. Now, they have plenty of company, but they still lead the way.

Bottom Line:
Over 300,000 customers can’t be wrong. RingCentral has been a perennial favorite of VoIP review sites. They continue to innovate from either their in-house team or by making deals with smart companies. One of their best choices was to enter a partnership with Zoom, making it possible to have HD quality video conferences with large numbers of participants. Formerly, this was only available with huge hardware, some that even needed its own dedicated rooms. Instead, a laptop or tablet is now all you need. This offering is a game changer that few other providers can compete with.

RingCentral has a huge head start over today’s VoIP startups, and but they’re always looking forward rather than resting on their laurels. Every few years, they find a way to reinvent themselves and stay fresh. It’s hard to say anything bad about RingCentral, but they do seem a little vanilla. Vanilla, of course, is the most popular flavor of ice cream, so that’s good for most. But, there are some companies out there that like quirky companies and gimmicks. RingCentral stays away from the bleeding edge and sticks to software and hardware with a proven track record.

RingCentral has exclusive features, but they aren’t available unless you pay for the top tiers. If you want a great VoIP experience, you won’t go wrong with RingCentral as a whole, but organizations that are able to afford it can get more with RingCentral than with many other providers.
