Now, with this latest update to Zoom Chat, users will be able to quickly reply or add reactions to preexisting messages. This interface improves user experience by allowing simple icons or a simple line of text. This kind of add-on feature makes communications quicker, and it also makes it easy for multiple users to chat together in the office or through their mobile devices.

In addition, @all mentions will allow users to send out a virtual “blast” via the cloud platform to members of a team. This can work with teams of more than 1,000 members, so this is very useful for collaboration as well as project or product management. With the newest update, screen sharing can be limited to the application. This is particularly useful for those presenters that only want to show a deck or slideshow without confusing the attendees with other applications. This is also convenient for keeping confidential information hidden.

Zoom has also improved the functionality of their waiting room solution. With Zoom rooms, participants can wait for a meeting to begin or can be sent there when confidential information is being discussed. The new functionality will allow hosts to send messages to these waiting room attendees with a click of an in-UI button.

These are one-way messages, so it won’t be disruptive to the processes of the video meeting. The basic waiting room experience is also being enhanced so that there’s support for waiting rooms as a host as well as a participant.

For global organizations, many attendees may bring their own interpreters to the conference or webinar. This can cause some concepts to be lost in translation. However, with the new simultaneous interpretation feature, Zoom video communications adds the original audio alongside the interpretation, which will allow listeners to pick up on tonal cues during the conference/webinar.

Zoom is known for its HD audio quality, but sometimes, excess noise from the presenter’s room can be picked up. To help improve the audio experience, Zoom is implementing an advanced noise suppression feature that can cancel out background noise during meetings.

Zoom provides a robust call recording functionality that is offered to all paid subscribers – there’s even a function to record text. Still, for the sake of confidentiality, it’s crucial for solutions like these to have explicit consent practices when recording. A new feature for Zoom meetings will allow administrators to customize the consent pop-up – as long as they have Zoom 4.6.0 or later.

Finally, for both Zoom Meetings and Zoom Chat, users will be able to upload and share files from their Box accounts. Box is a business-grade storage platform that also presents unique collaboration, and workflow functionality, so easy integration with Zoom presents a great way to securely share files while in a meeting or a chat.
